CRESST conducts research that improves assessment, evaluation, technology, and learning.
Barbara Jones is a Research Associate at CRESST, exploring best instructional and assessment practices for English language learners and monolingual English speakers. Jones’ work supports instructional planning from standards, use of formative assessment, assessment literacy development, and teacher evaluation standards. She has worked most recently in these areas for the states of Nevada and Colorado, as well as for the Center on Standards and Assessment Implementation (CSAI). Jones received her bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and her master’s degree from UCLA. Her current interests include creating online learning experiences for both educators and students and supporting the integration of formative assessment into instruction. Before coming to CRESST, Jones was a 1st grade teacher in downtown Los Angeles teaching English language learners.
