Center for Advanced Technology in Schools

This document contains an overview of a series of educational games developed by the Center for Advanced Technology in Schools (CATS) at CRESST. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Educational Sciences, CATS combines research on cognitive psychology, instruction, assessment, and new technologies including gaming to improve the understanding of fundamental math concepts of underperforming middle school students. For each CATS game, this document provides a brief game description, and describes the key features and math learning goals, the user interface, the typical game play sequence, game components, links to classroom learning, and the platform requirements.
