Creating User-Friendly Educational Information Systems: What We Can Learn From Management Information Systems

This paper addresses the design of user-friendly educational information systems. The authors share three recommendations. First that research and evaluation specialists consult end-users early in the design process and in a substantial way, not just symbolic representation. Second, designers and users may need training to develop an effective collaboration process. Third, that the degree of user involvement may be dependent on both the degree of change that the information system entails as well the organizational climate.
